Time for a Change in Formation?

Following a poor run of results for the reds I have heard a few fans discussing whether or not it is time for a change in formation.

The 4-4-2 formation that fans were almost demanding last season now seems to be worrying many supporters now that we are in the Championship.

When 4-4-2 fails most teams revert to some version of what in essence is 4-5-1 which is the popular modern day formation.

I’m not sure that this would be the right way to go for us but I do think it could be time for a change.

I would consider 3-5-2/5-3-2 whatever you want to call it. The wingers have been poor all season so it might be time to just get rid of them altogether.

We have three centre backs and assuming White isn’t fit then Bree and Yiadom could perform the wingback roles.

We would need Scowen back from suspension to partner Hourihane and Morsy in the middle of the park and our wingers can be used from the bench as impact players or if we need to change the formation.

What I like about this system is that you get the extra man in the middle of midfield which everyone is now saying is vital in this league, but you can also keep two up front instead of having to go with just the one.

If the wingers were playing as well as they did last season then I probably wouldn’t consider it but at the moment it seems like a good option to me.

We may however have to stick with 4-4-2 for the time being anyway as any potential change to get an extra man in the middle of the park would mean playing someone out of position until Scowen returns.

Reds fans what are your thoughts? Should be looking to change our system or isn’t that the problem? I’d love to know what views the fans have on this.
