Gloucester supporters finally had something to celebrate in the league as their side finally turned on the style to end that record run of nine defeats.

The 32-20  bonus point win was richly deserved against a very solid Sale side

The first half was superb with Ollie Thorley stopping Cobus Wiese from touching down and then racing 90 metres to score one of the tries of the season.

Sale did get one back through scrum half Gus Warr only for George McGuigan to score from similar close distance and there was no stopping Ruan Ackermann who burst through a gap.

It was 26-10 at the break with Sale getting the deficit to just six points before Santi Carreras slotted a late penalty to take the pressure off his side.

A relieved George Skivington told the media: "It feels good to win in the Premiership, it's been painful. I think in reality the last three Prem games before this one, we'd been in the fight, we'd looked like a good team, we'd just fallen the wrong side.
