Barton The Hero

Who said rugby was becoming boring and predictable. Gloucs and Ulster served up an early Christmas ferast in front of 2,000 supporters who played their part in crearting an atmosphere where both sides weree encouraged to give their all. It was thrilling with a last second score to clinch the game.

Young replacement Ge0rge Barton was the man who earned the 38-34 win when he crashed over in the very last play.

For so long it had looked as though Ulster would triumph after going 24 points up. Inevitably Billy Burns started their scoring.

They weren't helped by being reduced to 13 men in a game where three penalty tries were awarded - two to the Cherry and Whites. 

We were 17-10 at half time o through Louis Rees-Zammit's try and a penalty try with Mark Atkinson crossing in the second half. Michael Lowry crossed for Ulster, wholevelled with a penalty try before John Cooney looked to have won the game fot them.

But a late penalty try brought us within three points before Barton took his chance.

Phew.

Both sides had lost their opening games so we are on five points while Ulster have three.
