To be quite frank it is difficult to work up any enthusiasm for tonight's trip to Manchester ..
Gloucs are now in the mode of wanting victories just to try to end the season on a better note.
Our slump in late winter turmned us from play-off possibles to eight place mediocrities, and nobody connected with Kingsholm is trying to suggest otherwise.
Sale, on the other hand, are doing quite nicely in fifth place and will be confident of some points against us to cement their own play-off credentials.
We will be fielding a side which is strong on paper - they have been for most of the season which makes the slump all the more difficult to fathom.
Sione Kalamafoni makes his 100th competitive appearance with Paul Doran-Jones coming in for John Afoa.
Intertestingly, Greig Laidlaw will lead the side from fly-half position after James Hook succumbed to a back problem.
