Not Sharp Enough

Go Jonny Go

All the talk is about missed chances but if you are being fair you have to say that Saints know how to defend. Last season we conceded more thanh 50 points at Franklins Gardens and this year we conceded only 15. That has to be progress.

Jonny May is being singled out for not doing more when he broke from is own 22. However, Ben Foden was covering - and perfectly judging a kick over the defender when travelling at full speed is one of the hardest skills in rugby.

We could also have scored when Twelvetrees astutely bounced his grubber kick off a post -  again the defence was sharp.

So, while we only scored three points, this was a decent show against a top side in appalling conditions. The fine margins weren't on our side this time.

They should be on Friday when Sharks arrive. They could only draw with Falcons on their patch..
