Purdy

Gloucester's bright young guns gave the experienced Chiefs a real work out in the first round of the West Country Challenge with a points feast for the supporters.

We were always chasing the game but came within three points of a shock result with the almost first choice Chiefs side eventually coming out 41-38 victors.

It may have been even better if we hadn't lost skipper Henry Purdy to injury early doors.

Highlight of the game was the way the younsgters didnt look out of place and a great run from replacement Henry Purdy to score our last try.

Glloucs: Mat Protheroe (Henry Purdy 40); Steve McColl, Olly Thorley, Mark Atkinson, Steph Reynolds; Billy Burns (capt) (Bill Meakes 20), Callum Braley (Harry Randall 60); Dan Murphy (Paddy McAllister 40), Tom Lindsay (Luke Cole 50), Nicky Thomas (Josh McNulty 60); Tom Hicks (James Hudson 40), Elliott Stooke; Lewis Ludlow (Elliot Creed 60), Dan Thomas (Jacob Rowan 40), Gareth Evans

Tries: Steve McColl, Mark Atkinson, Jacob Rowan (2), Elliot Creed, Henry Purdy

Cons:  McColl (4)
