After demonstrating the Kingsholm squad’s strength in depth and the team’s “bouncebackability” after some below-par performances in last weekend’s impressive win against London Irish, Gloucester’s Guinness Premiership title credentials will be given a Friday night test by Sale Sharks at Edgeley Park in downtown Stockport.

And coach Dean Ryan makes just one enforced change to his team, teenager Charlie Sharples coming in on the wing to allow James Simpson-Daniel – the most talented player NOT to be taking part in this weekend’s Six Nations – to move into the centre in place of injured Jack Adams.
Sharples, only 18, has scored four ties in 11 appearances for Moseley this season and is a member of the England under-20 squad.


Narraway try v Ulster

There are changes on the bench, where Luke Narraway (above, from England duty) and Ryan Lamb and  Leon Loyd (after injuries) return to the squad.
With so many players injured or on 6N duty, it’s going to be another test for Gloucester’s squad strength and Ryan told the club website: “I think it was important last week that we didn’t get too swept away with what happened. I was delighted with how individuals contributed to a really positive team performance.
“It’s not possible for 18, 19 or 20-year-olds to come in and get everything right all the time but I do expect them to relish the opportunity and be energised by the experience. The key is whether they can reproduce it over a series of games.
“The way the squad is built means someone is always able to come in – we always knew these guys can play but it is about opportunities and they are now coming.
“It will obviously be a big test for us against a team of Sale’s all-round abilities and qualities but another very exciting step for them in their development.”

A win in this game will surely put Gloucester's mid-season wobbles behind them. Sale are a though side at ome and have racked up some good results this season.
