World Cup Diary Day 17: They think it's all over...it is now

There was disbelief and disappointment throughout Bloemfontein and at home as England's World Cup hopes came crashing down around them in a mixture of controversy and humiliation. Whilst many had predicted a tough game, maybe even a loss, the 4-1 defeat; the heaviest ever at a World Cup, took many by surprise.

Argentina 3-1 Mexico (HT 2-0)

Venue: Soccer City

Attendance: 84,377

Argentina (FIFA Ranking: 7)

Mexico (FIFA Ranking: 17)

Saturday 3rd July:

Argentina v Germany (ko 15:00 BST), Cape Town.
