England made it six wins in as many games on Saturday when they beat Kazakhstan 4-0 at the Almaty, Central Stadium. Goals from Barry, Heskey, Rooney and Lampard helped England in their bid to qualify for the world cup next year.

The game started and after a couple of minutes Lampard had a chance but hit it over the top of the goal, other than this attempt, Kazakhstan’s keeper, Alexandr Mokin, was not given much work to do in the first quarter of the game.  It looked as if the home side had taken the lead when a header from Ostapenko hit the back of the net, however, the offside flag was raised and the goal was ruled out.  England’s men knew that they had to step it up and five minutes later Heskey had a chance after he was passed the ball by Lampard and shot at goal with his first touch, only for Mokin to get a touch on it and keep it out, resulting in a corner.

As the half time mark approached, Lampard took the corner followed by a header from John Terry after jumping higher than the Kazakh defenders, but unfortunately it went straight into the arms of Mokin. With just 5 minutes left of the first half England were awarded another corner, Gerrard received the ball and hit it across goal to the far post here Gareth Barry jumped up and headed it into the net to give England the lead. Heskey made it 2-0 in the 45^th minute, Mokin made a mistake by coming off his line which was spotted by Steven Gerrard who had an attempt at goal, the keeper just got his hand to the ball and flicked it away but Heskey was at hand to tap it into the goal, leaving them to start the second half with a comfortable score line. Fabio Capello made a change at half time and replaced Theo Walcott with Shaun Wright-Phillips. Heskey and Phillips worked well together and earned two free kicks, both taken by Lampard but both times England were unable to increase their lead.

With fifteen minutes left to play, Glen Johnson came across the goal line and cut the ball across to Rooney who’s first shot was palmed away by Mokin only for him to try again, this time succesfully. David Beckham was brought on to play on the right side of the midfield and Phillips was moved to the right back position.
 
England were awarded a penalty when Emile Heskey received the ball from Mokin’s save of Ashley Coles half volley only to be pulled down. Lampard stepped up to the 12 yard mark and sealed the win for the Lions sending them home with a 4-0 win.
