The Saddlers take on Paul Ince’s Macclesfield Town for the 4th time this season tonight and will be hoping to amend their poor form of late with a win at Mose Rose this evening.
The Saddlers’ will be without no-nonsense defender Ian Roper who was forced to limp off early on in Saturday’s draw against Boston United, and Anthony Gerrard is expected to take his place in the side and partner youngster Scott Dann in the back 4 for The Saddlers.
One of the fans favourites and long serving players Darren Wrack will be trying to earn his place back in Richard Money’s squad after he has overcome his niggling injury set-backs that have kept him sidelined since November. Meanwhile Kris Talor will be looking to start after been dropped to the bench for the visit of Boston United at the weekend and leading scorer Martin Butler will be hoping to add to his 10 goals he already has for The Saddlers this evening after regaining his goal scoring touch.
Macclesfield Town have been on a very impressive run since knocking The Saddler;s out of The FA Cup – their first victory of the season and have won 11 games since which included Walsall’s promotion-chasing rivals Notts County, Swindon Town and Lincoln City and will be hoping to add The Saddlers to that list this evening. But surely this is a must win game, with Swindon just a point behind them in second place, if Swindon Town win tonight The Saddlers have to win a draw is just not good enough, if they fail to win theirs the possibility Swindon could overtake The Saddlers after tonight’s games.
