No Innard, Frost, Woody or J Scott. Surprised to not see them in either team or sub. I hope they are not part of our usual preseason injuries.

I reckon we’ll be using some of the revised Premiership Cup competition as pre-season games, particularly against Premiership clubs. Well might see Frost, Innard et al next weekend!

Think the coaches know about Frost and co, and as mentioned we’re heading into a development competition so plenty of time to get the minutes in. Some exciting prospects, pitty can’t see the match, but it’s only a week away.

I don't intend recording any predicted scores for this match, primarily because I'm in South Africa at the moment and will be spending the coming 24 hours travelling home.

The 'official' predictions competition will start with the PRC games next week.

Looking forward to seeing or more likely hearing how our new signings get on.
The key signing for me is Ehren Painter. If he improves our scrum and can improve his work rate around the pitch from his Saints days he will literally be a huge asset!
He was a great scrummager at Saints so fingers crossed 🤞
Good luck to everyone on their first hit out of the new season 👍

Sounds like a pretty open game but the most important thing imo was that it sounded like our scrum had some dominance, especially first half.
Let's hope we have turned or are turning a corner there 🤞

Means nothing but always good to start with a win, hopefully the coaches have a better idea of who to start the campaign next week.
Can’t wait haven’t been this eager for years.

From a Bristol fan about Chiefs !!

"whole squad making a big thing of being united and whooping and hollering in a very Sarries-esque manner; got a penalty reversed for doing so at one scrum "

I really hope we don't start going down this route, it really annoys me.

+1
Wasn't it just before half time which led to them kicking to the corner and led directly to a try?

If this is now punishable with reversing the penalty it will be very interesting to see if that happens to Sarries in competitive matches 🤔
I guess we might find out on the 14th of October....

Amongst all this congratulating teammates for doing their job the thing that really annoys me is when all the backs come running in to pat the scrum on the back if they 'win' a penalty; at a point when the opposition are at their most vulnerable, the possibility of a quick tap and go are lost because our backs are all out of position. Just get on with it and save your pats on the back and self-congratulation until the end ................. when, if you've all done your jobs properly, you'll probably have won the match.

On a more positive note well done a win is a win.

I hope the injury to Will B not too serious the last position we would want another long term absence.

This was from the Twitter commentary last night but I don’t know if there is any more information about it yet:

78' - Referee brings the game to a halt with an injury to Will Becconsall

Fingers Crossed for the Young Man, he looks in some pain 🤞🏼

I hope Will B recovers pretty quickly, Sam M is out for a long time and Stu will miss the start of the season, so that would leave us with Tom Cairns and Joe Snow !

I know many disagree, but this position still concerns me.

As far as points, league position etc I agree it means nothing but I think it means a lot in terms of seeing where the boys are in a competitive match.
These up coming Prem cup games will be massive imo and a good prelude to the start of the league.
I’m really looking to this coming season to see how it progresses

Hi Guys, I looked for the twitter commentary and in the one I found it said Cairns shoulder injury. Is that the one in fact that was Will B. Whoever stopping the game for a should injury is never a good sign whether it is Cairns or Will B.

It was Will B who injured his shoulder late on in the game. He looked to be in a fair degree of discomfort so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him out for a while…
The nature of a pre-season friendly is that you expect to see a few things go awry and it happened to both teams. However, I enjoyed seeing the combination of Devoto and Hendrickson in the centres in the first half and Ehren Painter looked very solid at scrum time, which was encouraging. Josh Hodge and Tom Wyatt were in electric form, but maybe had too easy a ride because of gaps in Bristol’s defence. In the second half, Will Haydon-Wood looked very lively in open play, but his goal kicking was appalling, missing a string of pretty easy shots - he needs a serious dose of Steenson…

Yep let’s all find a negative before the season starts, yes they probably over celebrated, but it was their first game against another team. It will probably die down when the games start rolling. Bristol board made a thing of it but the poster admitted he hates us.

Looks a very good team. How far off do you think that is from what we'll see against Sarries in the first game of the season?

Sarries are playing Cov with exChiefs Chudley and Kvesic which is good to see.

A lot of us don't "do" "social meeja" and it looks as if the club is going to increasingly use this medium as part of its "new approach" to PR. You can bet, however, that when they want our money they will revert to old fashioned emails...

According to the BBC we are using this competition to determine starting places so, with regard to your question, I suspect that the answer is "watch this space".
