Half way +4 games and we've added just 3 points but only slipped 1 position!?
What a strange season
Halfway through the season plus four games and The Chiefs have added just three points in those games but only dropped one position to fifth. What a frustrating situation for Rob Baxter and his fellow coaches to deal with.

And I guess the frustration must be keenly felt by the squad as well. Take the 31-14 loss to an in-form Bath side out of the equation and we have 3 losses with just a 10 points differential. What's even stranger is this mirrors Chiefs performances over the last few seasons at this time of year and shall henceforth be called the Pudding effect'. It's an effect everybody associated with the club will be glad to see the back of. We'll have to wait for next season if we can get rid of it but at least we have a gap in the Premiership to revitalise the squad. First up is a visit to Connacht and the chance to guarantee a quarterfinal place in Europe. Not that this is going to be easy though as the West of Ireland in january can be a wild place. I'm talking about the weather and not the travelling Tribe which could mean we're in for a forward lead battle. It will be interesting to see how Rob's selection is going to approach what could be a season defining match. I wish I could be there to experience the craic and sample the local stout but will be watching with interest from a comfortable seat in a warm room so it's not all bad.
