London Welsh v Exeter Chiefs

London welsh have met the chiefs on numerous occasions over many years most recently our championship winning season meeting twice in the playoffs first up at Sandy Park, where three tries in the final six minutes from Exeter saw the Chiefs ease to a 32-6 bonus-point win to go top of the pool ahead of the Exiles.it should be noted that chiefs Chrissy whitehead was playing for London welsh. A couple of weeks later it was London welsh running out 16-15 winners at Esher with a conversion missed at the end that could have won the match for the chiefs. Back to the game at the Kassam on Sunday it seems a long time ago now that we were embarking on our premiership journey with all the pundits and bookies tipping us to be the whooping boys of the premier league and go straight back down with are tails between our legs. However with hard work, commitment and learning from every match we proved that a side from the championship could compete at premiership level albeit taking a couple of spankings on the way. The players were learning very quickly how to play premiership rugby and finishing 8th were beyond every supporter’s wildest dreams come on admit we all would excepted 11th. Chiefs Players and Coaches will be well aware of how dangerous a championship side as it was not that long ago we were one. London welsh put in a creditable performance in their first fixture against tigers at the Kassam but looked tired against Quins after a short turn around and were well beaten. As rob has said many times there is no easy game in the premiership so the players will be taking nothing for granted. I Personally feel that the Pace and line speed that the chiefs have been playing with since the end of last season will see us come away from the Kassam with a win , i am not going to tempt fate by predicting the score line any away win in the prem is a good win.
Looking Forward to meeting up with the welsh supporters again and also wish them luck for the rest of the season as we know what it is like to be the new boys.
