A short conversation about out of season 'fillers' resulted in an offer by Reuben Miles to give some details/history of the trophies handed out by Exeter Rugby Club at the end of each season. The first article covers the Player of the Season trophy, which Luffy has now won twice.

Friends Player of the Season Trophy
by Reuben Miles
"In an early meeting of the committee of the Friends of the Exeter RFC, it was felt we should sponsor a trophy for the supporters player of the year. There started a search among the club memorabilia for a suitable trophy.
A silver trophy was found with the insignia of the Devonshire regiment on it, and attributed to the 2nd battalion. It is engraved as being presented by Lieutenant A G Davidson in 1936 for a place kicking competition. Although there is engraving on the back of the cup to record the winners, it is completely blank. however on the base it it has recorded that D R Atkins, 1960, and R E White 1961 were presented with the trophy.
The Friends had the cup refurbished , and it was first presented for 2005/06 to Jason Luff, together with a bottle of the bubbly stuff and beer for his teammates. 2006/07 Tony Walker was the supporters choice, and 2007/08, Jason Luff again.
