Wigan resisted a brilliant fightback from the Rhinos but something was not quite there today as we make our way out of the Carnegie Challenge Cup with no chance of getting to the new Wembley Stadium as hoped this season. We bring you all the action..

Dejected - No Wembley For Rhinos

Our hopes for the treble have been demolished - We are out of the Carnegie Challenge Cup once again and our hopes are dashed for making it to Wembley this season. You could tell from the first moments of the game both sides were up for it, but the better side won, and that was Wigan.

A high tackle on Leuleui gave us the chance to score as Toopi crashed over the line from short range to score for the Rhinos. Bentham went to the screen yet the try was given and Sinfield set us off.

We scored - Warriors scored. Yet another high tackle in the game this time gave Wigan the possesion and Ashton went through a huge gap in our defence to score. It was six a peice after the Wigan conversion but Wigan got another try. O'Loughlin recieved a simple but effective Barret pass to head through a space. Wigans tactics were clear with warnings going out all over the place.

Leeds gained possesion after repeated sets of six in our favour and Brent Webb made a brilliant dummy-half run and spun out of a tackle for the best try of the night. Sinfield made the score 12-12 as the hooter sounded.

Although we werent on top form we were still in this game and the players were not giving up.

Leeds made yet another mistake in their own half to gift the Warriors two points. Richards converted another penalty just before the fifty minute mark when Thackray stripped Paleaasina.

Just three minutes later ex-rhino Calderwood scored on the wing after several sets given by Leeds mistakes. Richards continued his clean sheet after converting which meant Wigan had a ten point lead.

Leeds then placed immense pressure on the away side and forced a goal-line dropout which lead to leedsrhinos.biz man of the match Brent Webb's 2nd try of the evening. Sinfield added the two which meant we were back in the game with just four points between us.

We pilled more and more pressure on the Wigan line but in the dying secounds of the match we were unable to score after 10 tackles.

We were not expected to go out at this early stage of the competition (for Super League clubs) as we were one of the favourites to make our way to Wembley but it was not our night.

This was a game we should of one. We are top of the Super League - But how long will this go on for if we play like this in the coming weeks of the league?

Don't let this though stop you from going to Wembley for the first game back there (in rugby league anyway).
