Gillingham star Matt Jarvis has today signed for Championship outfit Wolverhampton Wonderers. Jarvis moves to Wolves for an undisclosed fee, instead of the fee being decided by a tribunal. Jarvis has been linked with a host of clubs including Chalrton and Tottenham Hotspur, but Jarvis has finally completed his move to Molineux.

Gillingham star Matt Jarvis has today signed for Championship outfit Wolverhampton Wonderers. Jarvis moves to Wolves for an undisclosed fee, instead of the fee being decided by a tribunal.

 

Speaking about his move, Jarvis said: "I'm really delighted, this is a fantastic move for me. It wasn't very long ago that I first heard about it but I'm really glad that it's happened.

 

  "I have played at Molineux before for Gillingham and I think it's a fantastic stadium and set up.

 

 Jarvis scored the winning goal against Wolves last time Gillingham played them the KRBS Priestfield Stadium, and about that goal Jarvis said: "It was my first ever goal which is quite a good memory for me but not for Wolves. I'll be looking to make up for it now by sticking some in the net for my new club.

 

  "I played left midfield for all of last season but have, in the past, played up front and on the other wing.

 

  "I was at Millwall for five years as a kid but didn't get offered a contract so I moved to Gillingham which is where I did my YTS.

 

  "Now I just want to get out and do the best I can for Wolves. I've spoken to the manager Mick McCarthy and he seems like a man who's very keen on encouraging you.

 

  "You always want to work for a manager that you can look up to and talk to and everyone tells me he's a good guy to work for.

 

  "I delayed my holiday to complete the signing, which I was more than happy to do. I'm looking forward to coming back in a couple of weeks for pre-season training."

 

 Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said about the clubs new signing: "Matt is a player that the manager has been very keen to sign.

 

  "He is only 21 and has bags of ambition. He fits into the profile of the type of player we want to recruit.

 

  "However, we recognise there is also a need for experience in the squad and we may need to bring in players to compliment our young guns."

 

   Jarvis made his senior debut against Sunderland three years ago. During his Gillingham career Matty has found the net fifteen times, five of those coming this season. After impressing with same occasional senior appearances and impressive reserve and youth games, Jarvis was rewarded a senior contract - which he signed at th final home game of the season in May 2004. Matty scored his first ever senior goal in the one nil victory over Wolves during the 04-05 season. Last season Jarvis won 'Young Player of the Year' award and the 'Goal of the Season' award and has been Gillingham's star performer this season.
