Gillingham goalkeeper Romain Larrieu has extended his loan deal so that he will play two more games for Gillingham this season with Kelvin Jack still struggling with injury. When Jepson signed Larrieu earlier this year, the Frenchman became the fifth goalkeeper to play in goal for The Gills this season - the fourteenth in three years.

Larrieu is a massive presence between the sticks, and was very highly rated in the west country, describes as “The Best Keeper outside of the Premiership”.

'Le Keeper' was an integral part of both teams that won promotion to Plymouth’s lofty position in England’s second tier after his signing on a free in 2000.

Recently however, the wind has been somewhat taken out of the Frenchman’s sails; after an almost ever present season in the 2005/6 campaign he has struggled to find a place in the Argyle squad- kept out of new boss Ian Holloway’s side by his old rival Luke McCormick.

On retaining Larrieu and his frustations with Jack's many injuries this season, Jepson today said: "We have signed Romain Larrieu for a further fortnight. I know Plymouth wanted him to go back and maybe play some games for them as they think very highly of him. I spoke to Ian Holloway and Tim Breacker yesterday and they understand our predicament. It is nice of them to let him stay.

"I don't know about Kelvin Jack, I haven't got a crystal ball. He has got a sore knee; it has swollen up. He is currently working with the physio, so I'll let him assess that and guide us. It is not easy for my physio, he has been working hard all season and Kelvin jack had been training flat-out for three weeks; kicking balls here, there and everywhere and diving around. He told the physio on Sunday morning that he felt it with his first kick of the game. It is disappointing and we'll give him the treatment like we have been doing for most of the season."
