Gillingham travel to Millmoor on Saturday ahead of a crucial game for Gillingham in their fight against the drop against a team that seem all but relegated to League Two football next season. Gillingham travels to Millmoor this Saturday to play Rotherham, who appear to be all but relegated to play League Two football next season. In the last game against the Millers, The Gills won by one goal to nil thanks to a Gary Mulligan goal. Most fans travelling to Millmoor on Saturday will expect at least a point, and hoping for The Gills’ third away win of the season.

Gillingham Team News

Gillingham midfielder Mark Bentley returns to the squad following a one game suspension which prevented him from playing in The Gills’ key victory over Brentford last Saturday.

Mike Flynn and Matt Jarvis will have fitness tests Friday to determine whether they will be fit enough to play the game at Millmoor.

Gillingham fans may even see Kelvin Jack play for The Gills having finally recovered from injury, but Jepson said in his post match comments after the Brentford game that he may bring Jack back to the starting line up closer to the end of the season.

Millers midfielders Sam Duncum (hamstring), Richie Partridge (knee), Michael Keane (hamstring) and former Gillingham player Justin Cochrane are all doubts ahead of the game.

Colin Murdock (groin & thigh), defenders Gregor Robertson (calf) and midfielder Eugen Bopp are all ruled out of the visit of Gillingham.

Facey replaced Will Hoskins has the Millers’ main man up front. The 26-year-old front man has hit nine goals. The powerful striker caused The Gills defence problems in earlier this season when the two sides met at Priestfield with some decent long-range efforts.

"In football everyone has something to prove," said Jepson. "I have something to prove to my chairman and the players have to prove things to me - otherwise you soon get moved on in this game.
"I always ask my teams to express themselves, we've done that at home but have struggled away, so I want the players to show the supporters that they can do it away too.
"I want us to keep having attacking play, but to lock the door at the back. It's just our goals conceded column, which has been disappointing, so I want us to get a few clean sheets from now until the end of the season.
"It's a tough weekend ahead for us, but it's one that we are looking forward to.
"We are going to have to roll our sleeves up at Rotherham or we will be turned over. It will be a physical game, we will have to defend and then get it down and play when we can.
"The players will be in on Sunday morning as we prepare for the game against Bristol City on Easter Monday. They are more or less at the top of the league and we'll want to show that we can be up there with them on the day."
"The pressure isn't off," he added, "and we've got to try and win every game from now until the end of the season. We need a required amount of points and the sooner we get them the better.
"I want us to finish as high as we can - you can't short change the supporters.
"Everyone can see we need to improve in certain areas and we will have a look at it in the summer - but I'm not even thinking about that until we have enough points on the board."

“ I scored the winner then and hopefully I can do it again.

“Once you get a couple of goals they just seem to flow.”

“Rotherham are more or less down and there will be no pressure on them but I think we’ll win. Hopefully if we win that game we can go on and win the rest as well. We just need another win to make sure.

“We have enough quality in the team and I don’t think any of the lads have thought about relegation anyway.

“I love it here being in the first team every week. At Wolves and Sheffield UTD I was in the reserve teams but I came here and settled down.

“I’m scoring more goals now and my hold-up play is getting better as well.

“I still hold the record in the League of Dublin. I scored 62 goals in one season in league and cup for Belvedere when I was 15 and I thought I’d come over here and score goals as well.”

“If we can beat Rotherham on Saturday I think that will secure our place in the division for next year. Then we can start planning immediately for the following season.

“We’ve tried everything but for some reason it doesn’t seem to be working (away from home).

“It boils down to the players and their mental attitude towards the game. You hope players are strong enough to overcome that aspect. We won a couple of games away from home last season and when we did we got on a big of a roll.”
