Andrew Crofts

Crofts has been one of Gillingham’s star performers this season scoring some crucial goals with some key passes and making some impressive tackles to win the ball. Crofts’ impressive displays for The Gills have even earned him regular call-ups to the Wales squad. Crofts is strong candidate for the GFC Online Player of the Year award.

Mark Bentley

Bentley has been one of Gills’ most consistent performers in midfield since signing for The Gills last summer on a free transfer from Southend United. Bentley had netted six goals by the beginning of April and also has several assists to his name.

Matt Jarvis

Jarvis has been linked to nearly every single club in England this season but has been unfazed and played to a very high standard in nearly every game he played. Jarvis in his last season with Gillingham has scored six goals by the beginning of April and was a key man in producing most of Gillingham’s goals in the 06/07 season.

Gary Mulligan

Mullers signed for Gillingham last summer after impressing many during his loan spell last season, and this season surprised many by scoring nine goals. Not known for his goal scoring, Mullers scored his first goal of the season against Nottingham Forest in a JPT defeat, since then he went onto score key goals and set up key goals. His determination and passion has made him a popular figure amongst Gills fans and maybe with a better strike partner, could turn into a real prospect for the future.

Danny Jackman

Jackman impressed many in his first season at Gillingham, and has been another key man in the Gillingham side this season. Jackman has had to battle against Clint Easton for his place in defence and rarely goes wrong when he has been given his chance. Jackman scored the one goal by the beginning of April that was an impressive long-range effort in the last few minutes to beat Brentford at the end of March.

Nicky Southall

Trigg signed for The Gills in January for his third spell at Priestfield. In that time he has been a consistent performer and looks like he may even be able to have a long career like Gills legend Andy Hessenthaler. Southall is yet to score for Gillingham in his third spell but has some key assists to his name. Although he hasn’t scored for Gillingham at Priestfield this season, he did score for Forest earlier in the season and was a key man for them before he left.

Brent Sancho

Brent was the first ever Gillingham player to represent his country at a world cup when he went to Germany last summer to play the likes of Wayne Rooney and Peter Crouch and came back their top goal scorer with one (own) goal. Injuries have restricted his season, but he has still managed to earn himself a few a few places in the League One team of the week with some impressive displays. But Sancho hasn’t been as consistent as last season but his passion and commitment may still earn him the award.

Danny Spiller

Spillers season has been restricted due to what Jepson has described as personal problems and injuries, but in the games he has played for Gillingham he has impressed. Spiller is yet to score this season but has made some key displays for The Gills.

Mike Flynn

Flynn took over as team captain from Chris Hope at the beginning of the season but doesn’t appear to be the same player as he was last season without the skipper’s armband. Despite that, he was Gillingham top goal scorer at the beginning of April with ten goals, The captain also has several assists to his name.

Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu

‘Dave’ has been one of Gillingham’s most inconsistent players, but when he is playing at his best for The Gills he can be a threat for almost any defence in League One. Like most players Guylain has several assists to his name but has a disappointing goals return of just five.

Leon Johnson

It is unlikely that a defender will win the Player of the Year award with The Gills conceding 69 goals at the end of March including a five goal thrashing at Carlisle. Johnson however has done quite well at the back when given the opportunity but has had some mad moments that have led to crucial goals being conceded.

Dean McDonald

Dean hasn’t lived up to expectation this season after impressing in pre-season. Like Guylain, McDonald has a disappointing goals return of just five and has struggled to secure a first team place but when playing at his best, the small forward can be a real threat.

Clint Easton

Easton made his name known to Gills fans with a stunning goal for The Gills against Millwall in his only goal for The Gills. Easton has battled with Danny Jackman for a spot at left back, but has also played many games a left midfield and has many assists to his name.

Ben Chorley

On loan defender Ben Chorley signed for The Gills on loan last year and is a vocal figure in the Gillingham defence. Chorley was deemed surplus to requirements by current MK Dons manager Martin Allen, and the former captain of the side signed for Gillingham. Since then he has been a commanding presence in the Gillingham side who likes to push forward. Chorley could sign on permanently for next season like Mulligan did last season and could well be a start to sorting out such a vulnerable Gillingham defence.
