Paul Scally and Ronnie Jepson have both today confirmed their interest in free agent Neil Shipperley. Speaking on the Thursday news conference Ronnie Jepson confirmed his interest in the former Palace striker and speaking to the KM, chairman Paul Scally also confirmed his interest.
Speaking to Gillingham official club site, Ronnie Jepson said: "Neil Shipperley is available as Sheffield United have paid up his contract but he is one of a lot of players who are available. I'm always interested in good players and he is a good player. It would be rude on other people for me to mention other clubs players until anything is concrete."

Speaking to the Kent Messenger, Paul Scally then confirmed the clubs interest but denied the club had opened talks with the former Sheffield UTD and Crystal Palace striker. Scally told KentOnline: "We are interested in him but we are not at the stage where we have made him an offer."

Shipperley was released by Sheffield UTD manager Neil Warnock earlier this week, and speaking about the 32 year old, Warnock told the Sheffield UTD official club site: Sheffield UTD manager Neil Warnock said about Shipperley: "I'm very pleased that we're able to help Shipps out as a thank you for last season. He's not had much of a chance this year, but he wants to play, he's got himself fit and, ideally, he wants to go back home to the south.

"I feel that we wouldn't have gone up last year after Christmas if Shipps hadn't come back in and played as well as he did."

It is claimed that the Gills are favourites to win the former Sheffield UTD, Wimbledon, Crystal Palace, Watford and Chelsea striker's signature by tomorrow.

Shipperley, born and brought up in Medway, is son of former Gillingham star Dave Shipperley who played for the Gills during the mid-seventies.

Meanwhile on loan Luton goalkeeper has extended his loan spell with Gillingham by a further one week. Gillingham have also been linked with Barnet duo Giuliano Grazioli and goalkeeper Ross Flitney who are both on the loan and transfer list respectively.
