Gillingham travel to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City on Sunday in search of progressing to the third round of the FA Cup. However Gillingham may be missing several key players for the trip.

Gillingham star defender Brent Sancho is likely to miss the second round tie with Bristol City on Sunday. Brent and midfielder Alan Pouton have missed all of the week’s training after missing the League One meeting with Rotherham last week.

 

Striker Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu, also missed the win over Rotherham last week after failing a late fitness test. ‘Dave’ will have another late fitness test ahead the second round tie due to a knee injury.

 

On loan defender Ben Chorley has been denied permission to play in the game. Chorley, who’s performance ensured the Gills got all three points last week, was once again denied permission the chance to play in the cup by MK Dons manager Martin Allen.

Bristol City welcome back midfielders Mark Noble and Scott Brown for the visit of Gillingham. Noble and Brown both missed City’s Johnstone Paint Trophy victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Wednesday.

Bristol City play their football at Ashton Gate which has a capacity of 15,000. Away fans are set in the Wedlock Stand, which is behind one goal. The club have plans to modernize Ashton Gate whilst increasing the capacity of the stadium to 30,000.

“We always go into games with confidence, but we also give teams respect.

"We have already seen the quality Bristol City have got - you learn something every time you play somebody - but the lads just need to go and express themselves on Sunday.

"It's a one off game - in my opinion there is more emphasis on our league games than our cup games - but we still want to win every game."

Jepson added: "The FA Cup is a great competition to be in and we want to progress as far as we can.

"Clubs in our league need the cup runs as it helps more money to come in, but you can't talk to players about getting through for the money.

"They will want to get through because they're professional and want to win every game they play in."

 

Gary Johnson

 

"Our squad is looking strong at the moment and we may just have a full bill of health to choose from.

"Of course that gives me a selection headache, so to speak, going into the Gillingham game on Sunday.

"We're on a good run of form at the moment and we want to keep that going. From the last 18 games, we've won 12, drawn three and lost just three."
