Gillingham boss Ronnie Jepson has today confirmed that he has failed in a bid for Swansea striker Leon Knight. The Gillingham boss said that the twenty four year old was on the verge of completing a one month loan deal before the striker chose Barnsley instead.
Speaking to Gillingham's official website, Gillingham manager Ronnie Jepson said, "The lad was very keen to come, I spoke to his agent at length, but at the last minute Barnsley came in and I can understand him going there as its a Championship club.

"We'll keep an eye on how it goes at Barnsley because it's only for an initial month. I'll also keep working hard trying to bring in other players that will strengthen our team," said Jepson.

The Gillingham boss was close to completing a deal with Knights agent before championship outfit Barnsley came in to tempt Knight away with another chance to play championship football.
