Gillingham have appointed Paul Hilton as Gillingham's youth team head coach. Hilton adds his expierience to the youth system having worked with some of Englands top players. Hilton replaces Bobby Patterson aas youth coach, after his promotion to the first team set-up.

Hilton was youth coach at West Ham, and helped produce the likes of Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand and also Paul Ince. After a successful spell as West Ham's youth coach, Hilton went onto the Ipswich youth set up.

Not only has he had a successful career in coaching, but he also had a playing career with the Hammers. He made 79 appearences for West Ham in whilst the Hammers played in the old First Division - unfortunatly though, a knee injury cut short his career with West Ham. Retiring early led him into his current career of coaching.

Speaking about his new role at Priestfield, Hilton said, "The Culture within the youth squad really attracted me to the position and hopefully I can pass on my knowledge to the young players. I'm really excited."
