We go to the second city this week to play Birmingham Moseley, our old bed fellows for a number of years when in the Championship trying to secure a firm foothold in the league. We have in Moseley yet another club formed from a cricket team named Havelock Cricket Club in 1873. The ties between cricket and rugby are very deep as we can see from the times this crops up just from the other clubs in our current league.
Since the start of league rugby when Moseley were one of the clubs in the top division they have been a major club apart from a couple of years in National Two since 1987 when the proffesional era started.
They are another rugby club that accomodate many teams within the club, having seven mini teams from 6's up to under 12's, four more junior teams from under 13's to under 16's, a youth academy and a ladies team apart from the first team squad.
Like Albion and many others they have fallen on hard times in the past and also had financial problems, a familair situation it would appear for many.
They currently are in seventh place in the league on 36 points eleven points behind us but with seven wins against our eight, but there is a points difference margin of 214 between us.
The general verdict of the result on rolling maul is for a win to Albion by 31 to 1, not a given I know but win is what we need.
The weather report for Birmingham is for a cloudy day with sunny spells as it is for Plymouth which is a world apart from the time when we were in the Championship and our supporters helped the locals shovel snow before the game could go ahead, not sure if it was against Birmingham or Moseley but the same city non the less.
Good luck to the boys for a five point win.
