When you go to Brickfields next  have a good look around you and take in the changes that have been made this summer in preparation for the coming season. Some are quite obvious and some rather more subtle, check them out.

Here are some photo's for you to identify with, welcome for the new season.

The area of the main entrance has been cleaned up and the trees lopped to help out with the dead leaf problems in the winter and of course to let more light in.

This is the result, much better than before.

You may have already noticed the extra stone laid to the surrounds of the ground as a result of the old stone not doing the job anymore, this gives a much improved area and keeps the feet dry as well.

Back to the main entrance area and you will note the new tarmacadam path laid giving another not only dry but level and smooth pathway from the entrance to the existing tarmac pathway in front of the Eric Johns.

This newly laid pathway is extended at the other end of the Eric Johns to connect with the older existing tarmac path. This extra hard pathway gives not only a dry walkway for all but the principle reason for this is of course to enable whelchairs and the users of walker aids a safe passage all the way from the ticket office right through to the top gate and exit from the ground if needed by the clubhouse, brilliant move to enable an eaasy path to all.

Whilst on your frenzied journey to the nearest watering hole you could even notice the front steps and wall to the Eric Johns which has been steam pressure washed prior to another coat of paint to brighten things up again.

Ditto.

And again.

This steam pressure does a wonderfull job.

It has also been used on the clubhouse, the patio wall and area plus the wooden pub benches. This has been possible because of the generous help given to the club from Graham Witts Davis of the  "Lift It Crane Company".   This was all cleaned in a matter of days whereas I remember when the F.A.B. group spent twelve fuul weeks when they did this some seven or eight years ago plus painting the clubhouse and replacing the guttering as well. I believe the plan is to give the clubhouse a coat of paint again this time around.

This photo has already been shown, just to let you know that the current sponsors/advertizers boards are in the process of being put back after having washed and cleaned the rails and boards, more on this in a few days before the Bedford game on the 22nd, in part 2

As ever the pitch is looking a wonderfull sight since Interserve have taken over the task of looking after the ground and surrounding areas, they are doing a brilliant job and it's getting better every year I think.

You may not have noticed the containers at the back of the old Bath terracing although they have ben there a while for the purpose of providing changing rooms for the children who from time to time turn out on the main pitch for a game of tag rugby. Many of you could well have their sons and daughters and perhaps your grandchildren using them when they play at Brickfields when representating their school or rugby clubs perhaps.

When I popped in to take these photo's they certainley were kept in tip top condition for the kids.

Providing them with their own security and comfort while at the club.
