Righteous and hopeful...

This is it - the final straight. Nothing sharpens the mind like the prospect of death in the morning. Three games remaining, no blank weekends, eight points required plus whatever Moseley accrue along the way. Dawsie is back in the driving seat. Just an ongoing sub judice case to be place firmly at the back of the collective mind, focus on the rugby, do the job and go away for the summer... Simples!

What might be seen as the biggest challenge is in many ways the simplest. Bristol at home this coming Saturday (KO: 15.00). Priorities - forget about the last two and concentrate on the task at hand. Realism is the key here. On the surface, they're steaming hard to win the league with only one loss to date. They beat the other front-runners, Worcester, on Day One by a whisker and don't have to face them until Day Last. Big ask for Albion? Yeah - but no... Their only loss was away to the Pirates last month and we have already played them twice this time around (if you count the pre-season). We know what's in store, so above all, keep it tight (Mr Dawe knows a thing or two about that), keep calm and focus.

On-field game plan? Perspective! Firstly, play for at least a LBP to narrow the gap with Moseley. Bristol have a massive squad, but will still want to avoid serious injuries for the play-offs. Don't give a them a clear lead and let them cruise. Next, bear in mind last year's visit and keep an eye on the try line in case they get over-confident. A 4T bonus would be very welcome, even if we're beaten. Lastly, five in the bag would immensely strengthen our position for the following week at Billesley Common. In the words of Oddball, "Positive waves, Moriarty!" Cusack's Heroes!

All the games are on one day this weekend with just the Jersey game starting a bit early. Moseley have to travel to Bedford whose recent home form is not great, but the slope was still in place, last I heard... Good news on the social front - Boat Races afterwards; Ladies just after FT and the Men an hour later at 17.50. Bad news? Grand National is at 16.15.

So, off-field game plan? Set the video for the nags, purloin the kids' piggy bank, round up all possible family, friends, neighbours and work colleagues and hit town for the bookies around midday, lay all bets as required and then onto the ground for big eats and cheap beer (13-14.00).  Thorough lubing of the vocal chords in time for the game - sorted!
