This Friday sees the first home game of the season with our opponents, Moseley, seeking to redress their mauling at the hands of Rotherham last weekend.

Whilst finishing 10^th last season, just one place below Albion, Mose struggled to cross the whitewash coming bottom in the try-scoring stakes netting 45, with only 13 of these away from home. In the process they secured just one solitary away win, ironically against Albion (6-9).

Head Coach Kevin Maggs has spent the summer rebuilding a significant proportion of his team adding a number of players with a fair bit of experience. Added to these are a several player either Dual registered or on season long loans from Northampton.

The double header encounter against Rotherham exposed weaknesses in the scrums and line-outs and probably contributed to the two yellow cards they collected on the day. Given Albion’s recent experiences in these areas this should prove interesting.

The woes of the forwards should not overshadow the threat that could emanate from the backs – Moseley put together a couple of good tries, one from the player to watch, Matt Williams (wing) – leading try scorer in the 2010/11 season (with Donny) and still a bit nifty bagging one from 80 yards out.

It really ought to be a comfortable win for Albion against a side predicted by many to be competing against Ealing to avoid the bottom spot – but the same could have been said about the corresponding fixture last season. Indeed, Albion have only won half of their last 8 home fixtures against Mose, so need to keep their minds on the game. Prediction 20-10 to Albion.

Albion comfortably - by at least 14!! Good luck (except for two results) for the season ahead.

Whilst looking for the Birmingham Post's match report found this seems that the correspondant will not die from blood poisoning from all the splitters sat on the fence.
