You will all be delighted I’m sure to learn that we will have a new music/PA systems cabin to replace the current cabin which has developed a severe case of rot and is no longer fit for purpose ..
This is I’m told high on the list of jobs to be done this summer towards the ground improvements planned in order to develop Brickfields further for our enjoyment.I’m able to tell you that the R.F.U. Grand draw tickets we all sold, totalled £ 2713 of which 90%, some £ 2441.70p will go towards this cabin, and I’m thinking that if the monies raised from the “200 Club”, run so well by Vince Jones, for this season just gone were to added it could well go a long way towards paying for this replacement, who knows, the “200 Club” produce something in the order of 2k – 3k per season for the club towards ground improvements.May I say a big thank you to all those of us who took books of tickets from the club and sold them to friends etc. as well as the small team of motivated helpers who sold in the marquees prior to the home games. This was a first for the club in allowing us to sell in the marquees rather than around the ground, and is a big step forward from previous occasions when Frank Stormont ran raffles etc. and the first R.F.U. draw last year, when we had to sell around the ground and of course to friends etc. I remember the occasion when Lesley Olney and I walked the last leg of the “South West Coastal Footpath Walk”, never again, ( we arrived on the Hoe just in time to be told that the Bucks Fizz had all gone !!!), in order to raise funds for the rugby charity “The Wooden Spoon Club,” we had on that occasion also to sell only around the ground, such a shame, when the object is surely to raise the maximum amount towards a common goal and for the benefit off all who watch the games and the club itself, and to deviate for a few weeks from the normal tickets sold to raise funds for the club would create something of a refreshing change I feel. A big thank you to the club for this change in approach to supporter based fund raising. That said, I hope that next year we can negotiate more selling time in the marquees with the club in order to double our sales, along of course with extra tickets being sold outside. As you all know we don’t have a supporters club any more so can I ask that anybody who cares to spend a couple of hours before a few home games around February/March time to see me at the ground or to p/m me on this site as we need help to sell these extra tickets, if you let me know soon I can make a note of your contact details, thanks. Noibla p.s. As these monies that are raised are for improvements to the ground and for a better match day experience for you, the supporters, have you any suggestions as to what you would like to see done at Brickfields that you feel would add to this improvement ? i.e. more or better toilets, easier access to parts of the ground etc. please give us your ideas and we can make the club aware of them, your club your choice, cheers.
