Both Danny Thomas and Stuart Friswell have completed their cycle bides from London to Paris.
Sharing a room together meant that Danny did not get much sleep and after arriving in London at 10pm on Tuesday night they both needed to be up early for the longest leg of the trip. Danny only had around 4 hours sleep but Wednesday ran smoothly on their trip to Dover and they were there in time for the ferry by 3:30.
With the crossing given them time to recover they were in their hotel in Calais by 9pm.
A new day and the sun was hot and whilst they were feeling strong there were some steep hills to climb.
Friday saw the group getting close to Paris but it was a long and boring day but they both met some very interesting people, both cyclists and Frenchmen.
An Early start on Saturday, 7am, meant that they arrived in the centre of Paris around lunch time. As they road along the Champs-Élysées the traffic were honking their horns in encouragement. They finished the "race" under the Eiffel Tower just before 2pm.
With the riding over they can now look forward to a relaxing night before they travel home on the train on Sunday afternoon. Both Friss and Danny fell off their bikes, luckily Danny was stationary at the time as he was waiting for traffic to clear!
Whilst Danny has never ridden these sort of distances before he is already looking at the possibilities of doing it all again next year.
We must remember the reason behind this event as it was not just for fun but to raise funds for and awareness of the Macmillan.
Some of you may already donated or sponsored Danny but if you want to settle up or just make a donation then the Just Giving website is a good way to do it.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor. Macmillan Cancer Support gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
