Wihan is up and running

Wihan puts in a good performnce in the first outing as he leads his team to a 39 - 17 win over Sidmouth.

"80 minutes under the belt,
  feels great actually!"

Wihan Neethling was handed the role of captain as an Albion side took on Sidmouth. Although the Warriors dominated the game at times, Sidmouth had their moments and ran in three tries to the Warriors 7.

Speaking to the website after the match Wihan admitted that he was apprehensive before the match. "I was looking forward to it all week and at 5 O'clock my hands were shaking."

"The game was a bit stop, start. I think we gave away a few penalties but for a first outing it was pretty good!"

When asked about his role as captain he said "It wasn't very difficult in a game like that, I didn't have any tough decisions."

Wihan came through the 80 minutes fine he had a couple of niggles but not to do with his injury that had kept out of the front line for most of last season.

He admits that it is not ideal being captain and playing at full back. "You have to run in and talk to the ref and then get back out there."

I the second half Wihan picked up the ball 10 metres from his own line after Sidmouth had put it into touch. He didn't want to make the quick throw but they were calling for the ball so in it went.

Now that this game is out of the way he wants to start talking to GD as soon as possible. He is hopeful of being part of the Albion line up for his 3rd season at Plymouth. "I feel like I have proved myself in training and today."

Wihan knew he was not going to be doing any kicking at goal in this match but expects that that will come in the season.

He performed a lovely chip and chase and absolutely creamed the opposition player who caught it. I think he will be feeling a few more niggles than Wihan this morning!!!

Hi BBB, totally concur with you, throughly entertaining game, both sides fully committed and with a real change in the speed of the game.

Great to see Wihan enjoying his rugby again, on a sad note was the injury to Ross Batten, hope you make a speedy recovery, as the warriors will miss your presence.

There also appeared to be a good attendance at last nights game.

Come on Albion!!!!!!!
