Latics have signed Bulgarian international striker Svetoslav Todorov on a season-long loan from Portsmouth.

Scoring 33 goals for Portsmouth in 76 appearances and netting twice this season already, Paul Jewell was delighted to have captured such a prolific forward:

 

"I have always liked him, he's a pure striker, he lives to put the ball in the back of the net and will hopefully bring us that predatory instinct in front of goal which we have lacked at times in the past. Harry (Redknapp) speaks ever so highly about him as a player and a person and I am really excited about bringing a player of his nature into the club."

 

Todorov also expressed his happiness at signing for The Premiership’s latest phenomena: "Everyone knows about Wigan now and how ambitious they are.” He said.

 

“All I want to do is play and the quality of the squad speaks for itself. Harry Redknapp said I will get on with Paul Jewell because he knows him well and I am looking forward to the challenge ahead."
