Sauber launches "Sauber Club One"

Hinwil/Montreal, 11th June 2010 - Emblazoned for the first time on the engine covers of the two C29 racers at the Canadian Grand Prix is the prominent logo of the "Sauber Club One".

The "Sauber Club One" is an exclusive club for companies wishing to use Formula One as a business platform against a grand prix backdrop and the team's high-tech facilities in Hinwil for events, without themselves making a public appearance.

Team principal Peter Sauber comments: "Formula One as a marketing platform has changed over recent years. Formerly, its global reach was primarily used to raise the profile of consumer goods. Today it also serves as a vehicle for business deals and networking.

"Early this year I commissioned Publicis, one of the world's leading advertising agencies, with devising a suitable concept. That is now in place and the discussions we have had with businesses so far have been very positive. I am in no doubt that through this club we are serving a steadily growing need."

@Gemm

I was wondering if you could shed a little light on how this arrangement might work, as I know you are in the marketing field. Seems rather convoluted to the uninitiated, but I hope it works out for the team. Doesn't seem like a suitable substitute for a major sponsor though.

sorry for late reply, I have been travelling lately

Well, not that is anything ground braking in idea they adopted. This is rather sign of desperation than anything else. If you cannot sell it as package, sell it in items, even if that prevents you of any chance of proper big contract (because you traded some part of whole package already)

Kind of sorry to read that Peter Sauber has to sell his 'dinner time' but let's be honest he was doing it whole his life.

It's just that the dinner will taste different when you go there to entertain the sponsors who pays 10M and it taste different when you have to remember collect "Dinner with team Principal" 5k€ check when leaving table.
