In the second practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix, the BMW Sauber F1 Team continued its preparation work for the remainder of the weekend. Both Robert Kubica and Nick Heidfeld completed extensive programmes to finish 16th and 17th respectively. In session two of the Spanish GP weekend, the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers used the once again perfect conditions to execute extensive preparation programmes, with neither Robert nor Nick encountering the slightest technical problems.

Again, the Munich and Hinwil based squad focused on several goals: testing the new aero components, continuing the set-up work and executing more tyre evaluations. On the way to completing their scheduled programmes, Robert again was the slightly busier and faster of the BMW Sauber F1 Team pairing.

The Pole completed a total of 40 laps and on his 21st, he clocked his personal best time of 1:22.948 minutes. While Nick drove 39 laps and finished 17th by crossing the line in 1:23.173, on his 27th lap. The top position on the time sheets was secured by Williams' Nico Rosberg with a 1:21.588-minute lap.

The fact that both Robert and Nick were clearly slower than in the morning sessions suggests that the team returned to its usual Friday strategy and focused on solely preparing for the race on Sunday. In the third practice session starting tomorrow at 11:00hrs CEST (12:00hrs BST) and the qualifying session (from 14:00hrs BST) you will find out if this really was the case and if the BMW Sauber F1 Team has succeeded in making a step forward.
