Theissen admits BMW's double diffuser not ready for Spain

As revealed in Autosport and a German magazine, Mario Theissen has finally admitted that his team won't line up a double decker diffuser for the Spanish GP next weekend. Initially there had been the rumour that the Swiss-German squad could introduce an interim version of the controversial diffuser the coming days, but it seems it had to be delayed due to incompatibility problems with new package.
Quoting some parts of the article:
"The Barcelona-spec aero package has long been in development," told Theissen. "Therefore a double diffuser introduced at short notice wouldn't have brought us any benefit.
"There is no time limit set for when we will introduce the double diffuser in our car."

Just marvey. Hopefully we're not going to be in for a VERY long Sunday afternoon. But the DD seems crucial to the pace required to be competitive.It seems our team hit the snooze button after the Montreal performance and are refusing to fully awake. Boys, the buzzer is ringing !!!

It'd seem a bad news...
But if you think that a solid performance has been brought by a car not having the magic DDD, Newey's RedBulls, it means that speed in general,is not strictly and only related to this important piece.
Thus, our "normal" updates, following the main project parameters previously studied and designed, could really improve our performance,even in terms we now have difficulties to believe.Even without the DDD.
Then, the new diffuser it'll be integrated in the development process (long-planned as Mario said), giving us a further improvement.

We don't have anyone with skill near to Newey's in the team.

During winter testing, it was known that there was a good chance that the DD would be legal. In Melbourne it was confirmed. Others added it the following race, but to BMW there was not enough time??????????
This is laughable and really says that BMW will never be able to compete for a WDC because their development during the season will be much slower than all the other teams.

Spot on Bogs! As I said repeatedly BMW's development rate is a big joke! They started working flat-out on F1.09 in June 2008 and they still have problems with everything and saying that they had not enough time is really embarrassing.
Theissen said they never planned updates in flyaway races in such a revolutionary season. Sorry I can't write anything more cause I'm rolling on the floor laughing

I prefer to see what the new aero package itself would bring to the car rather than just enjoy the idea of a double deck diffuser with incompatibility issues.
If the new aero package has shown good results, then by solving those issues from now until then and by introducing the double deck diffuser, we will benefit much more.

I'm still waiting with my judgement for Spain GP, but no KERS & no interim DDD can't make you an optimist...

This article says NO interim DDD, but the Autosport link says they WILL have an interim DDD in Spain. Do we know for sure about an interim DDD?
No. The autosport article says BMW will have an interim diffuser fro Spain, but not DD kind of diffuser. It will be just an evolution of the single diffuser, before BMW introduces an interim DD in Monaco.
