There was so much promise in the summer transfers of Simon Davies, Van Der Meyde, Per Kroldrup, Phil Neville and Co after bolstering a squad that made the Champions League from dark depths of the Premiership.

The arrival alone of James Beattie heralded a new beginning for Everton FC as finally the manager was allowed to spend money from the Rooney sale and for finishing in 4th spot.

But as if it wasnt enough that Pistone, Naysmith, Carsley, Vaughan, Beattie, Van Der Meyde and Per Kroldrup have all picked up injuries, and some are still missing from the starting XI and have yet to make a premiership debut 4 games on, we find out that Cahill may need to be rested after a gruelling summer.

Simon Davies has yet to fit into the squad, he has made some decent runs forward but sometimes seems to be on a different page to the rest of the squad and with Neville sent off for something really silly in the last minute, the summer signings seem to be dwindling as results stack against us and then we have UEFA cup football.

"Not much time left"

This possibly could be our only chance to lift the fans and the players in this slow start to the campaign. Dinamo are a decent side and getting through this leg will be some feat for Moyes considering the goals are drying up.   Bent's only fault is that he can't finish as good as strikers in the premiership, but his pace is electric and causes disarray with defenders trying to mark him. Beattie needs to start proving his wages and price tag. Moyes picked Beattie to play in reserve team football last night and did come close to scoring from a free kick just going wide of the post against Newcastle. But there is not much time left for James, and with the rumoured arrival of Robbie Keane in January could signal the end of the former England International's career at Goodison Park. When we signed Beattie it signaled an extra 10 goals per season, at the moment we are lucky to get 3 games back to back and an attempt on target every now and again.

But there is light at the end of the tunnel. Van Der Meyde will add width to either left or right side and the 'flying dutchman' is sure to cause havoc amongst defenders, Kroldrup and Yobo looks like a formidable defensive unit along with Hibbert and Valente. And Phil Neville? Our midfield marshal will take over the middle of the park and allow a rested and fit cahill to come forward.

The future of Goodison is bright, but we must all play our part in getting behind the team, once again, at this time of need. Come on you Blues!
