The week ending 11th September 2005

It emerged early on in the week that Per Kroldrup is recovering well from his injury and should be back to football soon along with James Beattie and VDM. But, then bad luck struck yet again at Goodison as an infection in Naysmith's recovering foot has delayed his come back yet again and prepares to go under the knife again.

Neville was left out of the starting XI for the International loss against Northern Ireland making way for Young at right back. Moral is already low at Goodison due to the slow start this season, but the mid week defeat would have been more crushing for Phil as he is settling in to the squad.

An article was released by Terry Butcher stating that McFadden should leave Goodison for the greater good of his career and was met with a mixed response from Everton Officials.

Yet another injury marred the week with the news that young gun James Vaughan, the next big thing from the academy, is crocked and will be out for upto 8 weeks limiting Everton to the static Ferguson, the quick Bent and the poor Beattie.

The weekend game against Pompey saw Valente making his debut for the club, however it was a dark day for the blues as an own goal by Ferguson allowed Portsmouth to walk away with the 3 points. The game was uneventful for Everton but did see Valente making some great passes from the left back position and making some runs forward.
