Another home game and another disappointing result, Big Dunc scored the only goal of the game, unfortunatly it was an own goal. Pompey dominated the first half and, thanks to luck and crossbars, the game was all even by half time.

Lualua was unlucky not to score, firstly being denied by the crossbar and then letting himself down with poor finishing after breaking free of our defenders and Dario Silva was unlucky after 10 minutes but was denied by Nige.

Arteta was our only player to come closs to scoring from an amazing free-kick but was denied by the keepers great positioning and reflexes.

Everton's attacking efforts, in the first half, consisted of lumping the ball up to Dunc and getting Bent to run off the knock downs. Same old Everton, same old result.

Portsmouth defended deeply later in the 2nd half and fully deserved the three points as Everton's attacking tactics changed slightly from the first half, and consisted of lumping the ball up to Beattie after he came on after 66 minutes.

Beattie did come close to scoring, but surprise surprise he couldn't get the ball on target.

With the next Premiership game being Arsenal, this should have been one in the bag for the blues as the slow season continues.
