Sam Allardyce has told Ivan Campo that he must be more realistic over his wage demands if he is to extend his contract at Bolton Wanderers. Campo is currently locked in negotiations with the club to extend his current deal which will end at the start of next month and the Bolton boss Allardyce says the ex-Real Madrid star will not hold the club to ransom during the negotiation period.

"We are stuck in the middle of negotiations with Ivan, Whilst we would like to keep him, his demands have to be realistic. We won't be held to ransom by any player." said the Wanderers chief to the official site

"Hopefully, we'll reach a compromise and get things sorted sooner rather than later.I would like him to stay, but if he goes somewhere else then so be it."

The 32-year old has proved to be a big favourite at the Reebok Stadium ever since making the move from his native Spain in the summer of 2002 but the last year has seen him blighted with various injury problems including a broken foot on two seperate occasions.
