El-Hadji Diouf could be back in action as early as this weekend despite initial fears that he had aggravated a long standing hernia problem. The 25-year old front man missed Sunday's 1-0 defeat at his former club Liverpool prompting fresh concerns that he would face another lengthy spell on the sidelines but a routine check by surgeons in Germany has revealed no untoward problems.

"Dioufy went out to Germany to get his hernia checked." revealed Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce to the clubs official website

"He said he felt it again, so we didn't want to take any risks with that particular injury. He's back in the country with an all-clear from the specialist to do the right exercises. So he shouldn't be out too long."

Diouf made his first full appearance in over two months for the Wanderers last week when playing in the away game at Birmingham City.
