Boro Match Falls Victim To Weather

Bolton Wanderers have been dealt with their second postponement of the season after it was announced that tonight's game against Middlesbrough cannot go ahead due to a frozen pitch. The club's undersoil heating system failed to operate properly leaving referee Chris Foy no option but to deem the game unplayable due to the safety of the players.

Last month the away game against Birmingham City was postponed due to heavy fog in the Midlands area and a fixture pile up is something which the Wanderers or Boro do not need given their participation in the latter stages of the UEFA Cup.

It is the first time since December 1999 that a match has been postponed at the Reebok Stadium.

A statement by a Bolton spokesperson issued on the club's official website read

"The undersoil heating system has failed to work in the central areas of the pitch. This area is frozen solid and with temperatures plummeting during the rest of the day, it is unsafe to play the game."
