Bolton's veteran midfielder Gary Speed has signed a new one-year extension to his current contract after impressing during his first twelve months at the Reebok Stadium.
The former Welsh international captain appeared in all of the Wanderers Premiership matches last term, and Sam Allardyce has had no hesistations in offering the experienced campaigner another deal.
Speed had initally been up for a contract review in 2006, but this latest development will mean that he is now well on the way to becoming the first player to appear in over 500 Premiership matches.
"Gary has agreed an extension with us for another year after this one. He is still one of the fittest footballers around and we don't see his age as a problem at all." said Wanderers manager Allardyce in praise of the ex-Everton, Leeds and Newcastle star.
