Sam Allardyce has confirmed that he is interested in making Japanese icon Hidetoshi Nakata his next big signing for Bolton Wanderers. Reports earlier in the day claimed that the 28-year old playmaker was a possible transfer target for the club, and this has since been confirmed by Allardyce who is holding talks with the former Roma star.

"Hidetoshi is a player I admire and it would be great to have him on board. We will see how the talks progress over the next couple of days" the Bolton manager told the club's official website.

Nakata's impending move to Bolton is likely to be met with great delight by the Japanese people who showed their obvious zest for football in the Trotters pre-season tour of the Far-East.
