Former Bolton favourite Mixu Paatelainen is set to be named as the new manager of Scottish side Cowdenbeath according to reports from the BBC. The veteran striker is currently in his second season as the player-coach with St Mirren, but the managerless Cowdenbeath are looking for a successor to replace Dave Baikie at Central Park.

Paatelainen, now 38, has played for a number of clubs during his 18-year stay in Britain, including Dundee United, Aberdeen, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Hibernian and St Johnstone.

He was with Bolton between 1994 and 1997 and helped the club achieve promotion to the Premiership on two seperate occasions. He scored one of the Wanderers goals in the infamous 4-3 Play Off win over Reading at Wembley Stadium just over ten years ago, but injury restricted his Premiership appearances to just over a dozen outings.

"Moose" as he was affectionately known by Bolton supporters, is expected to be formally unveiled at some stage tommorrow.
