The failure to attract new faces has proved to be a major cause for anxiety for the people at Bolton Wanderers this summer, with nobody more concerned than the manager himself Sam Allardyce.
A number of players have slipped through the transfer net as the Wanderers continue their endless task of trawling through the remaining list of possibles and probables.
Allardyce told the Bolton Evening News that although recruitment was proving to be difficult, the search for new blood will go on right up until the 5pm deadline on August 31.
"We're trying as hard as we possibly can, But as each day ticks by, the closer we get to August 31 and the more difficult it becomes.
"We are trying not to get too panicky and too desperate, but time is moving on quickly and we still need a number of players of the right quality and stature."
So far this summer, Laurent Robert, Yossi Benayoun, Mikael Forssell and Juanfran are just some of the names whom Bolton have missed out on. The Trotters have however managed to seal the signings of Jared Borgetti, Abdoulaye Diagne-Faye, El-Hadji Diouf and Ian Walker, with Lyn Olso keeper Ali Al-Habsi also joining up in January once the Norwegian season is concluded.
