Mexican striker Jared Borgetti has spoken for the first time about his recent move to Bolton Wanderers which was completed last night. "I'm very happy that the contract is concluded, It is something I wanted to do and thanks to God it's come to its completion. Now I want to make my contribution to a successful season here at Bolton."

One of the South American's first aims is to win a place in the Bolton starting eleven, but he knows that he must first take some rest over the next few weeks following a hectic summer which has taken his games tally for the year to past the sixty mark.

"I'm a bit tired, and it's looking like a two-week recuperation period for me. I spoke with Sammy Lee about the timetable for getting involved in the training sessions. I want to get involved as soon as possible and see about getting a place in the starting line-up."

Borgetti rejected moves to Germany and Italy in preference of a move to the English Premiership with Bolton. He feels that the Premiership is of a much better standard than Die Bundesliga and that, along with the added incentive of UEFA Cup football, played a huge part in his final decision to move from his native country.

"I think the Premier League is better than the Bundesliga and is watched very avidly back in Mexico. Also it was very important consideration that Bolton are in the UEFA Cup. Bolton are also a team that suit my style of play."
