Bolton have added to their squad by bringing in profilic Mexican striker Jared Borgetti from Pachuca subject to the player passing a medical examination. Sam Allardyce has confirmed that the deal was in place to go through, with the only hold-up being down to the fact that the player was yet to undergo a medical in order to complete the move.

Borgetti, nicknamed the "Desert Fox" has scored over 200 goals in Mexican football, with his most notable spell coming during an eight year stay with Santos Laguna, where he attained a very good scoring ratio with them.

His exploits in the Confederations Cup and Gold Cup prompted Allardyce to sign him up on a two-year contract for a fee in excess of £1 million, but the Bolton boss warned that the player might take some time to get accustomed to English life having played in over 60 games this year.

"We are just waiting for the all clear on the medical. I am glad to say everything else is in place and by the time we get back home everything should be sorted out. The fee has been agreed with his Club and personal terms are all sorted.

"Borgetti has played over 60 games this year and will need to get plenty of rest before we really see his true class. His pedigree is excellent, but the Premiership is still unknown to him and he will have to be at his best to make the impact we are looking for.

"It is a massive challenge for both the player and the Club and I do know he has the mental strength to make it a success in England."
