Sam Allardyce has every faith in the ability of new right hand man Sammy Lee, but the Bolton manager is keen to challenge his recently appointed assistant to match or better the tried and tested methods of previous coaches Phil Brown and Neil McDonald
Allardyce knows that his players will undoubtedly draw comparisons with the old regime on the training field, but he is confident that former Liverpool coach Lee has had enough experience and know how from domestic and international coaching to win the squad over to the new way of doing things.
"Sammy has huge experience at Premiership, European and international level and his coaching credentials are impeccable,"
"He is coming to us nice and fresh and the challenge for him is to prove he is better than Phil and Neil.
"The players are bound to compare what he does with what has been done before, so he really does have to prove himself. My hope is he will go beyond it, and I believe he will."
Bolton have yet to appoint a new First Team Coach to replace Crystal Palace bound McDonald, but an appointment could well be imminent after the club advertised the role in a national newspaper recently.
