Slovakian international Lubomir Michalik has today rejoined League One side Leeds United for an undisclosed fee despite featuring in Bolton Wanderers first team line up as recently as Tuesday night's goalless draw against Fulham.

The 24-year old was signed from FC Senec by former manager Sam Allardyce a year ago and was almost immediately farmed out to Leeds where he enjoyed a successful loan spell.

Recalled by Bolton due to an injury crisis last April, the centre half scored in only his second Premiership appearance away at Chelsea and looked set for a bigger role in the team in the current campaign.

However, despite the sales of Tal Ben-Haim and Abdoulaye Faye in the close season, Michalik remained on the fringes of the first team squad this year and was only given a chance by manager Gary Megson when Adboulaye Meite was required to go to the African Nations Cup with the Ivory Coast.

The signing of Gary Cahill from Aston Villa yesterday, coupled with Meite's pending return from international duty means that Megson has allowed Michalik to seek more regular football at Elland Road.

Michalik made 17 appearances for the Wanderers scoring once.
