Right Back Joey O'Brien could be back in first team contention by the end of the week after the knee injury he picked up in the 1-1 draw against fellow strugglers Derby County was not as bad as first feared.

O'Brien limped out of the action during the second half of the game at Pride Park prompting fears that he could have aggrivated the same injury which had kept him out of the game for over a year.

However, the injury is not as bad as first thought and the Republic of Ireland international could play in either Thursday's UEFA Cup tie against FK Rabotnicki or Sunday's Premiership clash with Chelsea.

Meanwhile, O'Brien and his namesake Andy O'Brien are the Bolton Wanderers players hopeful of earning a recall to Steve Staunton's latest Ireland squad which is to be revealed later today.
