Sammy Wants Bolton To Keep Believing

Staying Upbeat

Defeats in their opening two games against Newcastle United and Fulham have left Bolton Wanderers in the bottom three of the Premiership but Trotters manager Sammy Lee has called on his players to keep believing ahead of Saturday's game against Portsmouth at Fratton Park.

Wanderers found that luck was not on their side against Fulham last night despite having put in a second half display that was worthy of them getting at least a point.

Lee, whilst disappointed to be still searching for his first league win as a manager in his own right, still took some positives from the game at Craven Cottage ahead of this weekend's trip to the South Coast.

"It's right that we've got no points out of the two games but I want the players to have the belief in what they are doing. There was an awful lot of positive football from the lads at Fulham in what were very difficult circumstances."

"As long as we keep the belief and try to do things in a positive manner then that will certainly please me.

"It's always disappointing when you get beaten but we will be working hard to make sure that the confidence isn't low. I felt we deserved more than we got (at Fulham) but I will try to raise the players in the games that are coming up" said the manager to the club's official website.

The Bolton boss also confirmed that Newcastle United target Abdoulaye Faye remains on the books of the club despite strong speculation about his future in recent days.

Faye didn't travel to the capital for the last game with Lee leaving him out of contention due to the vast publicity which has surrounded him.

"His mind may not be focused on the job in hand. He still is a Bolton Wanderers player until somebody tells me otherwise." added Lee
